About Me
My name is Summer Norman, and I am happy to serve as the PK-12 School Counselor for Chireno I.S.D.  I graduated with a Bachelors in Interdisciplinary Studies from Stephen F. Austin State University and obtained a Masters in  School Counseling from Lamar University.  Throughout my 17 years of experience in education, I have taught 4-8 Language Arts; been a campus department head and a team leader; led student advisory groups, sponsored cheerleading and dance teams, and student-led Christian organizations; served as a foreign-exchange coordinator, and had the privilege of serving students as a school counselor, which is my favorite role so far!  I am passionate about meeting students' individual needs in regards to academic achievement and social/emotional well-being.  My personal philosophy of counseling is that abiding by the American School Counseling Association's National Model and the American Counseling Association's Code of Ethics is of utmost importance in maintaining best practices as a professional school counselor.  I believe that all students should have access to a school counseling program that promostes academic opportunity, as well as social/emotional well-being.  My primary goal is to advocate for every student to reach his/her full potential.

I am married to Tim Norman, and we have three beautiful and very active daughters in elementary school.  We all take great pride in being part of a school district that offers differentiated opportunities for students and upholds tradition and respect for self and others.  Go Owls!!!
