From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: It's Tuesday...game day! We hope you can make the short trip to Broaddus this evening to watch our varsity basketball teams take on the Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs. The girls' game will get underway at 5:00 with our boys playing immediately afterward. No JV games will be played tonight. Good luck to our players and coaches!

From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: Good luck to both of our high school basketball ball programs as they will be back in action tomorrow night. Our JV and varsity Lady Owls will travel to Rusk to take on the Lady Eagles beginning at 5:00 pm. Tickets for these games will need to be purchased online at ruskisd.hometownticketing.com. Meanwhile, our JV and varsity boys will host the Gary Bobcats in our season home opener. These two games will also begin at 5:00pm. Finally, congratulations to our junior high baseball and softball teams as they wrapped up their seasons this past Monday night in Broaddus. Both teams came away with wins and have continued to improve over their first two seasons. Our young men finished the season with a 6-4 record while our ladies finished their season undefeated for the second consecutive year. The future looks bright for both programs!

We thank you for choosing to serve our country and for the sacrifices you and your family made for the sake of our freedom. Our junior high softball and baseball teams close out their seasons this evening at Broaddus. We hope you can make the short trip to support our kids and coaches. First pitches for both games are slated for 5:00 pm. Also, congratulations to Coach Hutson and our JV girls basketball team as they blew through the Hudson Tournament this weekend going 4-0. Tomorrow afternoon, all of our high school basketball teams will be back in action on the road at Big Sandy Dallardsville. The JV girls will get the afternoon started at 4:00, followed by the JV boys, varsity girls, then varsity boys. Both programs look to keep the positive momentum going as the JV and varsity boys along with the varsity girls defeated Zavalla this past Friday night.

They will be back in action tomorrow at 9:40 am. We also wish our JV boys and both varsity teams luck this evening as they travel to Zavalla. The junior varsity game will tip off at 4:30 with the varsity girls playing immediately afterward. The varsity boys will cap off the night with their first official game of the season. Don't forget that our junior high softball and baseball teams will play their final games of the season in Broaddus on Monday afternoon beginning at 5:00 pm.

From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: Today's junior high baseball and softball games in New Summerfield have been cancelled due to wet field conditions and potential Inclement weather forecasts for this evening. The final games for both squads will be next Monday, November 11, in Broaddus. The first pitches for both games are scheduled for 5:00 pm. Good luck to our junior varsity and varsity boys basketball teams as they travel to Slocum for their first and only scrimmage of the year. The ball goes up at 5:00 pm. Finally, we hope you can make plans to come see our JV and varsity girls tomorrow evening in Huntington for their first game of the season. The JV will get things rolling at 5:00 pm.

From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: Good luck to our high school basketball Lady Owls as they travel north to Pine Tree High School this afternoon for their second scrimmage of the preseason. The junior varsity will begin play at 5:45, then play again at 6:30 and 7:50. The varsity will get underway at 5:00. They will then play at 7:15 and again at 8:00. This will be a four-team scrimmage that includes Pine Tree, Mount Pleasant, Nacogdoches, and Chireno.

From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: It's another big day here on campus! This afternoon, our junior high softball and baseball teams will be in action as both will host Douglass beginning at 4:00 pm. At 6:00 pm, the annual Meet the Owls event will take place in the gym where we'll introduce our high school basketball teams as well as this year's cheerleaders. It's a great day to come and show your support for our junior high and high school athletes and coaches!

From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: Good luck to our high school Lady Owls basketball teams (JV & Varsity) as they travel to Central High School tomorrow morning for the first of their two scrimmages. The junior varsity will get things started at 10:00 am with the varsity playing shortly afterward. Also, we hope you will make plans to come and support our junior high softball and baseball teams as they host Douglass on Monday, October 28. Both games are slated to begin at 4:00 pm. This will be the final home contests for both squads. Later that evening, we will have our annual Meet the Owls Night in the gym beginning at 6:00 pm, where our junior varsity and varsity basketball teams will be introduced along with this year's high school cheerleaders. It's always a great night as we officially kick off the high school basketball season in Chireno!

Winners in 3 of their last 5 games, our young men look to put another W in the win column as the bats have recently come alive. There will not be a junior high softball game this week. However, both of our junior high teams will host Douglass on Monday, October 28, beginning at 4:00 pm.

Each squad will get things underway at 3:00 today as they both are slated to open tournament play against Wells. Both teams are coming off wins over good teams in Alto (softball) and Woden (baseball) this past Tuesday afternoon.

Also, good luck to our junior high boys' baseball team as we host the Woden Eagles on the home diamond. First pitch is scheduled for 5:00 pm as well.

From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: It was a great day on the district cross country course at Corrigan-Camden! Our varsity boys once again advanced to Regionals as a team as they finished in second place overall. Garrett Sanford led the way for the Owls with a 3rd place finish, followed by Colton Smith (10th place), Anthony McLaughlin (13th place), Hayden Zahn (16th place), and Ceygan Dotson (20th place). Armando Galindo-Ortega paced our JV boys with a 3rd place mark while Mason Holloway finished in 6th place and Maci Turner in 7th for the Lady Owls' junior high team. Congratulations to all of our coaches and runners on another outstanding regular season!

From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: CISD may be closed this week for Fall Break, but there is still plenty of activity taking place. Good luck to our junior high and high school cross country teams as they compete in the district meet at Corrigan-Camden on Wednesday. Our junior high softball and baseball seasons get underway on Thursday afternoon as our Lady Owls travel to Brookeland for a 5:00 pm opener on the softball diamond. Meanwhile, our junior high baseball squad will host Zavalla. First pitch is slated for 5:00 pm as well. We will also have several students participating in the annual Nacogdoches County Fair this week. They will be showing animals and entering ag mechanics projects for judging. Mr. Reitan and Mr. Dotson have done an excellent job preparing our kids for competition this week so good luck to all! Finally, in honor of Coaches Day, we give a shout out to all of our dedicated coaches and sponsors, who spend countless hours preparing our students for success on the court, in the field, in UIL competition, or in the PE class. These employees touch many lives daily and we are blessed to have them on our team here at Chireno ISD. So, thank you to Tray Turner, J.R. Hutson, Kase Hooper, Mason Brittain, Rebel Bleile, Donald Mayhugh, Crystal Zienko, Kelly Turner, Alicia Mayhugh, Kelly Mancill, Chris Dotson, Mike Reitan, Ryan Johnston, and to the many teachers who spend time coaching UIL academic events! Our kids are better because of what you pour into them everyday.

We are getting better each week and feel that we will be heavy contenders for the district crown in two weeks. The girls' A team will follow and the boys' A team will cap off the night.

From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: Happy Monday! With school districts in the area keeping a watchful eye on weather developments in the Gulf, the decision was made to move the Broaddus Cross Country meet up a day. So, our junior high and high school runners will compete tomorrow, Tuesday, September 10, instead of Wednesday. The varsity girls will begin at 12:30 pm with the varsity boys getting underway approximately 30 minutes later. The junior high girls will begin at 3:40 pm and the junior high boys will cap off the afternoon at 4:00 pm.
