Also, our Mighty Owls baseball squad will begin play in the Groveton Tournament this afternoon with games against Woodville at 3:50 pm and another against Douglass at 5:40 pm. Our Mighty Owls will take the field this weekend at the Groveton Tournament beginning on Thursday. Our Lady Owls softball squad will get their season started as they take part in the Blues Brothers Softball Tournament in Nacogdoches this weekend as well. Their first game will also be played on Thursday. Finally, congratulations to our two regional powerlifting qualifiers Laila Harrison and Zoey Spencer! They will compete this Friday at Commerce High School for the opportunity to advance to state.

This will be the final regular season game for our young men. The junior varsity will get underway at 5:00 pm with the varsity game to follow. These two games were moved up a day so that both Chireno and West Sabine could attend their girls' playoff games scheduled for tomorrow night. Our varsity boys will play their first round playoff game early next week with our opponent and location still yet to be determined.

From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: Fresh off an exciting nail-biting win over the Woden Eagles on Tuesday, our Mighty Owls look to continue the momentum tonight in their final home game of the season as they host the Corrigan-Camden Bulldogs. This will be Senior Night for our young men playing their final game here at home as well as our senior cheerleaders. Our JV Boys will get the evening started at 5:00 pm followed by the varsity boys. Meanwhile, our Lady Owls wrapped up the regular season as district champions and also carry a #4 state ranking into the playoffs, which begin early next week. Our opponent for the bi-district round of play will be determined later tonight as well as a location for that game. When details become available, Chireno ISD will announce those details as soon as possible.

Both of our teams will be credited with wins as a result. The next game night for our boys' and girls' teams will be Tuesday, Feb. 4, when we host Woden beginning at 4:00 pm.
