
From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: Good luck to our softball and baseball teams competing tomorrow and Saturday. After a classic come from behind 8-7 win over Woden this past Tuesday night, our Lady Owls fell short to Garrison this morning in their initial game of the Nacogdoches Blues Brothers Tournament. They will play tomorrow morning at 9:30 and will likely play again in the afternoon. Saturday, they will play at 11:50 am and again at 3:40 pm. Meanwhile our baseball team will be battling in the Groveton tournament this weekend. So, good luck to our teams this weekend!
For next week (Spring Break): our varsity baseball team will be in action on the road Tuesday, March 7 at Zavalla for a 6:00 pm game. They are also slated to play in the Douglass Tournament March 9-11. Our JV baseball squad will play Burkeville next Friday, March 10, at home. First pitch is scheduled for 4:30 pm.
Our Lady Owls will play at Zavalla on Tuesday, March 7, as well in a 5:00 pm matchup. This game was originally scheduled for Monday, but it was moved back to the following day. They will be at home next Friday, March 10, at 5:00 pm as they host West Sabine.

Our Mighty Owls basketball team finished in third place in District 24-2A and will now face Beckville on Tuesday night in Teneha in their bi-district matchup. Tip off is scheduled for 6:00 pm.

From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: We have new information to share with the Chireno fan base since our athletes will be in two separate locations competing on Friday night. Our baseball team will still hold their final scrimmage in Timpson on Friday. However, the first pitch has been moved up a couple hours to 4:00 pm. This was originally scheduled to begin at 6:00 pm. Our Lady Owls will tip off their playoff game at Timpson High School against McLeod starting at 6:00 pm in the area round of post season action. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students. Our Mighty Owls basketball team will be playing Woden Friday evening at 6:00 pm. This game will be played at Zavalla High School. This is a tie breaker game to determine second place in district 24-2A. We will be well-represented across East Texas on Friday night. Good luck to all of our coaches and players!

Coach Turner and Coach Mayhugh will now prepare them for the area round of action, which will take place this Friday night at Timpson High School. There, we will face McLeod at 6:00 pm. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students. Our baseball team is also slated to scrimmage the Timpson Bears on the road at 6:00 pm this Friday. Good luck to Coach Bleile and the Mighty Owls baseball team as they play one final scrimmage before the regular season begins.
Don't forget that tonight our boys' JV and Varsity basketball squads will be in action in Woden beginning at 5:00 pm. This will be the final regular season game before our young men begin preparations for their playoff run. It is also Senior Night for our Lady Owl basketball players as they compete for the final time at home. We'll honor our five seniors (Callie Sanford, Hannah Smith, Morgan Anthony, Whitney Sargent, and Dacey Coleman) between the JV boys' and varsity girls' games. Our varsity boys come into tonight's game looking to get off to a great start in the second round of district play having completed the first round with a 5-1 record and currently sit in 2nd place. Our 4th ranked Lady Owls are well into the second round of play and remain undefeated headed into tonight's contest with the Lady Bulldogs. Good luck, players and coaches!

The Lady Owls will play immediately afterwards with the varsity boys finishing out the night in the third game. Congratulations to our cheerleading squad for an outstanding performance at the State Cheer Competition in Ft. Worth yesterday. Although they did not advance to the finals in 2A competition, these ladies put on a masterful show and represented Chireno ISD extremely well. Congrats to all of our cheerleaders, mascot, manager, and Mrs. Stephanie Williams! You made us proud!

Our ladies boast of a 3-0 record in district play while our boys are 1-0 in District 24-2A. All three teams will head east on Tuesday afternoon to play San Augustine with the JV boys beginning at 4:30 pm. We would like to extend an invitation to all who plan to attend to wear red as Chireno ISD will be showing our support for San Augustine ISD as they mourn the recent loss of one of their students, sophomore Kymron Davis.
