From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: Good luck to Barrett Bennefield as he represents Chireno High School High Bass Club at the 2021 Mossy Oak Fishing Bassmaster High School National Championship this weekend at Chickamauga Lake in Dayton, Tennessee. Barrett ranks as one of the best in the nation in his age group and is certainly deserving of the opportunity to compete for a national championship. Good luck, Barrett!

From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: Happy Monday! We have a few reminders for our student athletes. This is a reminder that athletic physicals will be conducted tomorrow in the gym beginning at 8:30 am for incoming 7th, 9th, 11th grade athletes as well as those who did not participate in athletics last year. Athletes, please bring the physical examination form with you filled out in the proper sections. This form can be found in a black container in the bench next to the front high school entrance. Next, there will be no boys' basketball workout sessions scheduled for this week due to a scheduling conflict. And finally, temperatures are forecasts to be in the high 90s this week. If you are planning to be outside for extended periods of time working, playing, or training, please take every precaution to hydrate regularly, plan to cool off often, and avoid long periods of sun exposure if at all possible. Summer is heating up...let's be safe in the sun!

Chireno Elementary would like to welcome Brittany Ferguson to the Owl Family. She will be teaching 3rd grade Reading/Language Arts and Social Studies. “Hello Chireno Family! My name is Brittany Ferguson. I am SO excited to be joining the Owl Family and teaching 3rd grade Reading/Language Arts and Social Studies! I grew up in Woden and received my bachelor’s degree in education from SFA. This is my 9th year teaching. Over the course of my career, I have taught self-contained 1st grade, departmentalized 1st grade (Math, Science, & Social Studies), and Reading Intervention for grades K-5th. My husband, Caleb and I have been married almost 10 years and have two kiddos, Paisley and Cayson. We live on a small farm in Chireno and raise goats. When we’re not busy chasing kids (both the two-legged and four-legged ones), we enjoy spending time together fishing, gardening, and relaxing around the house. I also love to paint and create wood projects. I am thrilled to be joining Team Chireno and can’t wait to meet and get to know each of you! This is going to be a GREAT year!”
