From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: Our junior varsity and varsity Lady Owls will be back in action this Friday at Central High School in Pollock. Tip off is set for 5:00 pm. Both boys' teams will host Corrigan Camden on Friday beginning at 5:00 pm. Please remember that all fans who enter to watch games will be temperature screened and must wear a mask at all times. Congratulations to Kimberly Sloane who has been chosen as one of the recipients of the 2020 UIL Sponsor Excellence Award. She has been a dedicated UIL sponsor and coach for Chireno ISD for many years and we are so excited that her efforts have been recognized by the league. Kimberly will be presented a trophy later this year for receiving this honor.

From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: Our Lady Owls basketball teams will be in action at home against Timpson on Tuesday of next week. Those games were originally scheduled for a 2:00 pm tip off beginning with the JV game. That game has now been moved back an hour to 3:00 pm with the varsity game to be played immediately afterward.

From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: Our Lady Owls' home games against Douglass will now tip off tomorrow evening at 5:00 pm with the JV playing first. Varsity teams will begin play at approximately 6:00. Per Chireno ISD protocol, all fans planning to attend must be temperature screened before entering the gym, must wear masks at all times, and are highly encouraged to social distance in the bleachers as much as possible. Tonight's boys' basketball games with Shelbyville have been cancelled due to a confirmed positive test for COVID-19. Furthermore, Friday's boys' games with Douglass have also been cancelled. Our girls' teams will play their games tonight in Cushing and Friday at home against Douglass.

Breaking News...from the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: the Chireno vs. Shelbyville JV boys' game will begin at 5:00pm with the varsity squads playing immediately afterward. The published schedule originally indicated these games would begin an hour later. From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: It's game day, Friday the 13th! The Lady Owls begin the evening with a 5:00 tip against Martinsville. Immediately afterward, the visitor side will be cleared to allow for San Augustine fans to enter the gym in preparation for the boys' JV game to begin at approximately 6:30. The varsity boys' game will follow. As a COVID-19 mitigating precaution, all attendees for tonight's contests must be temperature screened before entering the gym and masks will be required to be worn properly at all times. Tonight: JV & Varsity girls will begin the season on the road in Teneha. Tip off is set for 5:00pm.
Saturday, Nov. 7: HS Boys basketball (JV & Varsity) will scrimmage in Cushing beginning at 2:00.
Tuesday, Nov. 10: HS Girls basketball will be in action at home vs. Woden. This will include JV & Varsity beginning at 5:00pm. Four tickets per player will be accepted and the price of admission to those games will be taken at the gate. Home game reminder: all fans entering our gym will be required to have their temperature screened before entering the facility and must wear a mask at all times. Also, on this day, our boys JV & Varsity basketball teams will be scrimmaging in Laneville beginning at 6:00pm.
Friday, Nov. 13: Varsity girls will be at home against Martinsville beginning at 5:00pm. Immediately following, the visitor side of the gym will be cleared to allow for San Augustine fans to enter to watch the boys' games. The JV boys game against San Augustine will tip off around 6:30pm with the varsity immediately following. Again, all home game protocols must be followed per Chireno and CDC guidelines.

From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: Our Varsity Lady Owls will be in action at Hudson High School this Saturday, Oct. 31. This will be a scrimmage and we are scheduled to play at 10:00, 12:00, and 12:30. Gym capacity will be limited to 50% and all spectators will be required to wear masks.

From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: Saturday's basketball scrimmage between the Lady Owls and San Augustine has been cancelled. However, the Lady Owls' Tuesday scrimmage against Huntington is still scheduled to be played at home beginning at 5:00. Players will be given 4 tickets each to be dispersed at their discretion for entrance into the scrimmage. No money will be taken at the gate on Tuesday but in order to be granted entrance into the gym to watch, spectators must possess one of these tickets. Masks will be required at all times.
The annual Meet the Owls event is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 5, from 6:00-7:00. Just like protocol for our home basketball games, only four spectators per player, cheerleader, and coach will be allowed to attend and masks must be worn at all times while in the gym. We are excited for the upcoming season and our 20-21 Owls and Lady Owls are ready to play!

Tonight's Junior High basketball games in Broaddus will consist of one girls' game (tip off @ 5:00pm) followed by the boys' game. Four fans per player, cheerleader, and/or manager will be permitted. All spectators will be required to wear masks as well. Should any information become available regarding live streaming of these games, CISD will post it asap.
