From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: Happy Monday and welcome to another busy week here on campus! Before we get to our sports schedules for the next several days, let us extend well wishes to all of our students taking state-mandated English I & II EOC exams this week. Test days will be Tuesday and Thursday. Our junior high track teams will be in action this afternoon in the district meet to be held at Zavalla beginning at 3:30 pm. Good luck to those kids and coaches as they compete for the district championship for 2022! Our Lady Owls softball squad will be on the road Tuesday evening in Chester for a 5:00 pm game. They will return home this Friday to host Zavalla. Strike one is scheduled for 5:00 pm. Our baseball team is coming off a solid showing with a 5-1 win over San Augustine this past Saturday and look to keep the momentum going when they travel to Chester on Tuesday for a 4:00 pm game. A JV game was originally scheduled for today against the Yellowjackets but was cancelled. Our young men will play at home this coming Saturday morning at 11:00 am against Zavalla. Finally, our boys and girls regional tennis qualifiers will travel to Pflugerville on Sunday afternoon in preparation for the Regional Tennis tournament that gets underway next Monday morning. Good luck to all our athletes and coaches this week!

From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: It appears Mother Nature won out over the fields at Colmesneil this morning. Therefore, today's softball game in Colmesneil has been postponed until a later date. We will announce a make up date and time when that information becomes available.

From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: Congratulations to our Tennis teams on their showing at the district tennis meet yesterday. Our boys are district champs! All 8 young men on the team advanced to Regionals as did Dacey Coleman and Kailey Sowell on the girls' side. In other news, the start time for tonight's baseball game at San Augustine has been moved back to 7:00 pm due to a minor scheduling conflict that was out of both team's control. Here at press time, our Lady Owls are still scheduled to travel to Colmesneil for a 5:00 match up. If weather has an impact on this game, we will announce any changes in plans here on the Chireno Owls Sports Wire.

From the Chireno Owls Sports Wire: Since our junior high track athletes have been forced to endure two cancellations over the past two weeks, tomorrow's high school track meet in Zavalla will now also consist of a junior high division. There will be no jumping events or 2400m run in the JH division, but all other events will be conducted. This gives our junior high athletes a chance to gain some experience and compete against other schools in their respective events. Thank you to Zavalla ISD for allowing area junior high students to come and compete tomorrow evening.
